Clevedon Salerooms welcomes St Peter's Hospice
1st January 2020
Towards the end of 2019 Clevedon Salerooms hosted one of their training days for St Peter’s Hospice charity shops.
Thirty of their charity shop managers attended the event where Toby Pinn and Mark Huddleston presented to the group on topics including identifying ceramics and jewellery as well as the legal aspects of endangered species, the imminent ivory ban and current trends. Clevedon Salerooms have a long association with St Peters and are pleased to be able to offer these events in a busy auction calendar, in addition to selling items commission free for the charity.
Such days have proved their value to the Hospice in the past with the sale a number of years ago of a £360,000 Chinese bamboo brush pot donated to one of their shops, spotted by the staff who had attended a previous event. Furniture prices soar at Clevedon Salerooms
Clevedon Salerooms held the first of two fortnightly auctions in February on Thursday 6th at the Kenn Road Auction Centre. The sale was bolstered by a significant consignments: one being from a Chew Valley property, and the other an email valuation request from photographs, of the type received daily by the auctioneers - but this one proved to be better than most. One interesting revelation in this instance was that a relative of the vendor had been a London furniture retailer.
